It's a brand new blogging world

Truth be told, it's never been much of a challenge for me to talk - about anything. In fact, blathering on endlessly about random topics has proven to be one of my strongest attributes. (Read: most annoying personality traits) Double-edged sword that it is, yucking it up has gotten me into my fair share of hot water. I hope history does not find itself repeated here.
I've long been a reader of blogs, have surfed to find blogs that match my particular mood or curiosity, yet have never felt the pull to the soapbox, as it were. About 5 years ago, I seriously toyed with the idea of blogging - thought,"Hey, I read so many of these things, and these are just ordinary people, maybe I should..." but I couldn't get off the fence. Was I afraid of what people might think, afraid of feeling exposed, vulnerable? Hmmm...maybe. Just plain lazy, more like. I like 'em, though. Like I like magazines. And YouTube. Oh, YouTube... I find myself drawn into the web of YouTube with alarming regularity, finding one ridiculous video or videoblog, then clicking on another related and highly reviewed video, and before you know it, I've wasted the better part of an evening. Which is immediately followed by the guilt. Like when I was in college, and would devour an entire pint of Ben and Jerry's Vanilla Swiss Almond. Which is, as I knew then and know still, completely unnecessary. Much like video gorging. But really, what do you do with the rest of the pint after having a "normal" portion? My sad little cube refrigerator didn't have a freezer compartment large enough to hold a pint of ice cream, and well, I'm part Scottish, so... It's amazing to me how all of the kids are so savvy, how they use these tools so intuitively and have incorporated them into their everyday lives. I think that if there had been blogging when I was growing up, I'd have probably climbed onto that sassy little pony, and written it for all it was worth. Better late than never, I suppose. Hey, I'm not totally useless, I can tell time in analog.
